Former Oregon Ducks Wide Receiver Keanon Lowe Hailed For Heroism In Video Released Of Him Disarming Student With Gun

Recently released video footage of Parkrose High School head football coach Keanon Lowe embracing a student after wrestling away his gun, is giving the world a little more hope for humanity. Watch the video below:

The incident happened earlier this year at the Portland school on May 17th. At the time Lowe told Yahoo! he just acted instinctively:

“In a fraction of a second, I analyzed everything really fast, saw the look in his face, looked at his eyes, looked at the gun, I realized it was a real gun and then my instincts just took over,” Lowe said.

“I lunged for the gun, put two hands on the gun, and he had his two hands on the gun…I was just making sure the barrel of the gun isn’t pointed towards them or towards me. I was able to wrestle it away.”

“He broke down and I just wanted to let him know that I was there for him,” Lowe said. “I told him I was there to save him. I was there for a reason and that this is a life worth living.”

So touching right? The student, Angel Granados-Diaz was charged with two counts of being in possession of a loaded firearm in a public building, one count of being in possession of a loaded firearm in public, and one count of recklessly endangering. He pleaded not guilty to the four charges. His lawyer Adam Thayne said depression and mental health issues contributed to Granados-Diaz’s actions.

Lowe was honored by the Portland Trail Blazers during Game 4 of the NBA Western Conference Finals this year.

Sounds About White: Man Eats Nothing But Mac & Cheese For 17 Years Straight

Man Eats Only Mac & Cheese For Nearly 20 Years

According to the Tampa Bay Times, Austin Davis has an eating disorder called avoidant food intake, a condition where trying new foods can cause a negative reaction in the body. This has caused the 20-year-old to eat nothing but mac and cheese for 17 years straight.

The unique diet reportedly began after he was removed from his home as a child after enduring physical abuse from his father. He then began eating the dish religiously,  trying to eat new food but his body refuses to ingest it.

“I don’t want to say I’m addicted to mac and cheese, because it sounds so weird…But my body won’t let me eat anything else. I didn’t choose to be like this.”

He also works out four times a week, mostly boxing, to try to stay in as good of shape as he can.

Protesters Win: Chick-Fil-A Announces Closing Of United Kingdom Store Right After It Opens

Chick-Fil-A Announces Closing Of United Kingdom Store Right After Its Opening

In the United States Chick-Fil-A is one of the most coveted fast food chains in all the land. People will walk into a Chick-Fil-A and act like they entered a church, code switching and leaving the cussing at the door.

Recently, they have been under fire for being ranked the slowest drive thru in the US–but that hasn’t slowed business at all. You would think if Chik-Fil-A was to close one of their stores, it would be over something not related to their actual business and that’s exactly the story here.

Chick-Fil-A has been under fire over its owner’s homophobic comments since the beginning of time, which has been an on-again-off-again issue in America. If we are being 100% honest, it always flares up around election season, but people forget as soon as the sandwich hits their mouth. Unlike the U.S., though, the United Kingdom wasn’t as forgiving and wanted the Southern chain gone expeditiously.

UK Protesters have been all on Chick-Fil-A since they opened their store on October 10th, and Chick-Fil-A has already responded, essentially letting people know they figured this would happen and only wanted a six months lease anyway.

“We have been very pleased with the lines since opening Oct. 10 and are grateful for customer response to our food and our approach to customer service,” the company said on Saturday. “We mutually agreed to a six-month lease with the Oracle Mall in Reading as part of a longer term strategy for us as we look to expand our international presence.”

While Chick-Fil-A is basically promising to return bigger and better, LGBTQ organization Reading Pride is still opposed to their return.

“We are staunchly opposed to Chick-fil-A setting up shop in the UK and certainly in Reading,” the group said in a statement on Twitter. “The chain’s ethos and moral stance goes completely against our values, and that of the UK as we are a progressive country” that has legalized same-sex marriage and “continues to strive toward equality.”

One thing you can count on is Chick-Fil-A to donate to these same anti-LGBT groups every election and for the groups like Reading Pride to put the public on notice as soon as they do.

Starting a scholarship fund for black women at HBCU’s is much-needed, and this money is definitely going to be put to good use.

Gon’ head, Charlamagne!

The Saga Continues: The Game Ordered To Pay Sexual Assault Accuser $7 Million After Losing His Appeal

The Game Must Pay His Sexual Assault Accuser $7 Million

The Game has taken yet another loss in his ongoing legal battle with Priscilla Rainey, who sued the rapper for sexual assault years ago.

The United States Court of Appeals has rejected Game’s request for a new trial, which means that he is still required to pay Rainey the $7.1 million in damages that it was already determined she’s owed. The court announced this most recent decision on Thursday, which is now more than four years after the plaintiff initially filed a civil suit.

According to the complaint, the sexual assault occurred back in 2015 when Rainey was a contestant on Game’s VH1 reality show, She’s Got Game. It all went down after Rainey reportedly agreed to meet the rapper at a Chicago sports bar for a date, but wasn’t that it would be off-camera.

According to the suit, The Game showed up to the restaurant “highly intoxicated on alcohol and drugs (which was typical), and sexually assaulted plaintiff on several occasions that night. This included him forcefully reaching his hand inside her dress to rub her bare vagina and buttocks.”

Back in 2016, Rainey won her case and was awarded $7.1 million once the rapper failed to appear in court–and the fact that Game was a no-show for the initial hearings was a big factor in the appeals court’s decision. Circuit Judge Diane Sykes also pointed to Game’s online attacks against Rainey, referring to him accusing her of suing him because she was bitter over her being eliminated from the show.

This case has seemingly been cut and cry from the start, but to this day, Game refuses to pay up. It seems like it’s time to just get it over with and hand over the $7 million.
